We have less than a decade to cut emissions in half to stay on track with the 1.5°C warming threshold of the Paris Agreement. Last year at the COP26 Glasgow climate summit nearly 200 countries agreed to strengthen their climate targets. 👉 We are really happy to share the 2nd newsletter of the Erasmus+ Digitool Project “Inclusive Digital Education – a Tool to Understand Circular Economy” 🌿

👉 Digitool focuses on the topics of Circular Economy and circular business models and will help HEI to implement digital education solutions into their curricula 🌾

👉 In this newsletter you will find:
▶️ Intellectual Output #1, #2 “DiGiTOOL to CE” will be assessable in two different ways – either as a whole elective study course (“C course”) allowing to obtain up to 3 ECTS credit points or as each of 15 parts will be independent it can be part of blended study courses; the second part (IO#2) will deal with consumption.
▶️ Intellectual Output #3, #4 The third part (IO#3)will deal with production; the fourth part (IO#4) will deal with waste management
▶️ Intellectual Output #5, #6 The fifth part (IO#5) will deal with Business models, Innovation and Investment; As a #6 io, the project is developing an electronic tutorial “DiGi MENTOR” of how to plan, develop and run asymmetric courses in Higher Education institutions (like DiGiTOOL to CE”).

🇺🇳 A UN-backed coalition of 1,000 stakeholders from over 100 nations unveiled an Action Plan to accelerate digitalization’s environmental and social sustainability. The Coalition for Digital Environmental Sustainability (CODES) intends to refocus and prioritize the use of digital technologies in order to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’s goals to solve the triple planetary emergency of climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and waste.
🌍 The flagship CODES Action Plan includes building globally inclusive processes to define standards and governance frameworks for digital sustainability, allocating the necessary resources and infrastructure, and identifying opportunities to reduce potential harms or risks from digitalization.
🛰 “Digitalization is changing the way the world works, but the new world of work must be a sustainable one. It is critical that digital innovations and technologies accelerate environmental sustainability. UNEP is committed to supporting CODES and digital sustainability as a core part of our new Digital Transformation programme” said Inger Andersen, Executive Director, United Nations Environment Programme and CODES co-champion.
